Discovering Darkness is the fourty-eighth episode of the television series Sid the Science Kid. The episode addresses Sid's question of "why am I getting up in the dark?". It was later as book in 2011

Episode description[]

Sid has to wake up a bit early on a morning, so that means it's darker in the morning and darker earlier in the evening. This leads Sid and his friends to investigate and observe what happens when a light source is completely blocked—creating darkness.

Trivia[]

  • In this episode, Sid says, "Breakfast time!" in his pajamas.
  • This episode is a reference to the late Prince of Darkness, Sir John Michael "Ozzy" Osbourne, the former member of the British rock band Black Sabbath, who sadly passed away on 22 July 2025, which is how the British refer to it as, starting with the day.
  • Near the end, Mom activates the applause, which is the only time this happens.
  • After the Super Duper Ooper Schmooper Big Idea, it will be Sid's turn to activate the applause like his mom.
  • When Sid says, "See you later, scientists!", he closes the closet door and activates the applause again, which bothers people, making it way too repetitive.
